Resumen

El presente trabajo aborda el fenómeno del abigeato desde su perspectiva histórica social, entendiéndolo como una práctica dotada de contenidos y significados. Trata por sobretodo acerca de los modos de comprender los robos y hurtos de ganado, especialmente para sus perpetradores. Interiorizándonos en el delito, ahondaremos en el trasfondo que adquirían estas prácticas e iremos dilucidando si acaso existieron indicios de rebeldía y/o protesta social en éstas, durante la República conservadora, en el sureño Departamento de Valdivia. En virtud de la temática, caracterizaremos brevemente el delito, para finalmente centrarnos en tres aspectos intrínsecamente relacionados con el abigeato: el aparaguayamiento, el lucro y el consumo.

ABSTRACT

This paper discusses the phenomenon of the cattle rustling from its historical-social perspective, understood as a practice full of contents and meanings. It is mostly about modes of understanding burglaries and thefts of cattle, especially for its perpetrators. Keeping uson top in crime, we delve in the background that they acquired these practices and we will be clarifying if perhaps there were signs of rebelliousness and/ or social protest in these,during the Conservative Republic in the southern Department of Valdivia. By virtue of the subject matter, we will briefly characterize the offense, to finally focus on three aspects intrinsically related to the cattle rustling: the so-called ‘aparaguayamiento’, the profit and the consumption.
